Keanu Reeves opens up about a recent injury he suffered while filming his latest project.

Keanu Reeves recently opened up about a serious injury he sustained while filming the upcoming comedy Good Fortune. Contrary to what many might expect, the injury did not occur during an action-packed stunt. Instead, on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Reeves explained that the accident happened shortly after filming a cold plunge scene alongside his co-stars Aziz Ansari and Seth Rogen.

As he was walking into a dressing room, Reeves’ foot unexpectedly caught on a raised section of carpet, causing his knee to buckle suddenly. He described the moment his kneecap fractured with vivid imagery, saying that it “cracked like a potato chip.” This surprising incident resulted in a shattered patella, which is one of the bones that make up the knee joint.

Earlier this year, in January, fans and onlookers spotted Reeves on set using crutches and applying an ice pack to his injured knee. Despite the severity of the injury, he has since made a full recovery and has returned to filming, working closely with Aziz Ansari, Sandra Oh, and Keke Palmer.

In a lighthearted moment, Reeves joked about the challenges of his latest project, saying, “Comedy is hard, man,” showing his characteristic humor and positive spirit. He reassured fans that, although the injury was serious, he is doing well and remains fully committed to his work on the film.

Good Fortune, directed by Aziz Ansari, is an upcoming comedy that tells the story of an angel, played by Reeves, who tries to teach a struggling gig worker, portrayed by Ansari, that true happiness isn’t found in wealth alone. Alongside this talented cast, Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer, and Sandra Oh also play significant roles in the movie, which is set to be released in theaters on October 17, 2025.
