HILL COUNTRY — The body of Aidan Heartfield has been recovered in the Texas Hill Country following devastating floodwaters that inundated his family’s home on July 4, his father, J. Thad Heartfield, confirmed Saturday with KFDM/Fox 4 News, telling us confirmation came through a DNA match.
“I want to thank everyone in the community for their prayers and support,” Mr. Heartfield said. “It has meant the world to us and sustained us through this difficult time. I know it has been important to all of the affected families. This is an important step toward closure.”
Aidan, 22, was staying at the home with his longtime girlfriend, Ella Cahill, and friends Joyce Badon and Reese Manchaca, both 21. Their bodies have also been recovered.
The body of 8-year-old Mary Grace Baker was recovered after floodwaters swept through Camp Mystic. Her funeral was held July 12.
