Tragedy in Texas: 11-Year-Old Jocelynn Rojo Carranza Dies by Suicide After Being Bullied. An unimaginable tragedy has struck a family in Gainesville, Texas. Jocelynn Rojo Carranza, just 11 years old, died by suicide on February 8, after her mother says she faced relentless bullying at school. According to Marbella Carranza, classmates mocked Jocelynn and targeted her over her family’s immigration status, telling her that her parents would be taken by immigration authorities and that she would be left alone.
Jocelynn was a student at Gainesville Intermediate School. Her mother says the school was aware of what was happening, as Jocelynn had reportedly gone to counseling sessions once or twice a week to report the bullying. However, Marbella claims the school never informed her about the situation. The school district has not confirmed if they knew about Jocelynn’s case but stated that they take all reports of bullying seriously and have policies in place to address such incidents.
Jocelynn passed away five days after she was found unresponsive at home on February 3. Her funeral was held at the same church where she was baptized, with family and friends remembering her bright spirit. She loved dancing, swinging, and spending time with loved ones—especially enjoying movie nights and getting her nails done with her grandmother.

The Boys & Girls Club of Cooke County expressed their deep sorrow, saying Jocelynn’s death is a painful reminder of how important kindness and compassion are. Her mother now hopes her daughter’s story will raise awareness about the serious impact of bullying and the need for schools to do more.
